•Ensure that agricultural appraisal services are conducted in a regulatory compliant, cost effective, and timely manner. •Review agricultural appraisals for completeness. •Maintain and manage a panel of qualified third-party agriculture appraisers. •Perform USPAP Standard 3 reviews of third-party and internal agricultural appraisal reports under the direction of senior members of the Appraisal Team. •Frequent interaction with Asset Management, Finance, Regulators and Auditors. •Will be a functional leader for the valuation of certain Portfolios.
•Bachelor’s Degree; Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA); State certified appraiser. •5-7 years of progressive experience in agriculture appraisal and appraisal review •Strong knowledge of agriculture valuation and the agricultural appraisal process, including familiarity with Business value and/or personal property valuation. Timber, minerals and water rights, and infrastructure valuation experience is a plus. Experience in the exploration of soil, water quality and availability, and crop potential. Land value estimation experience and deep understanding of how to improve properties and add value. •Understanding of the requirements of the Uniform Standards of professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) •Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision •Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks Preferred Skills: •International experience a plus •Excellent communication skills ( written and oral) with senior leaders and peers, facilitation, interpersonal and collaborative skills
A great deal of direct experience and sophisticated analytical skills relating to agricultural valuation are an essential requirement of the position. The individual will be required to understand complex valuation issues and converse directly with appraisers, internal portfolio and asset managers, and industry experts in the field. High level of interaction with various stakeholders both internally and externally will be required. Individual must have overall industry knowledge and be able to plan, organize and manage with minimum supervision. Must be a problem solver and have strong analytical skills and solid interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. May represent Nuveen in conversations and presentations to outside investors in the funds, as well as ongoing discussions with third-party appraisers, and internal and external auditors and accountants.
