Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder and Chief Elections Officer
Announces an Unprecedented Staffing Expansion.
Come Join an Amazing Team!
The sustained economic growth in San Mateo County has resulted in a substantial increase in the building of many large-scale, new generation commercial, manufacturing, research and development, and mixed-use developments. This new construction has added to the wealth of land, buildings, and taxable property throughout the County. With this new development comes the responsibility of the Assessor’s Office to determine the assessed value of all taxable property - land and structures, and businesses. The property tax revenues generated from these assets are vital to maintaining local government operations and public services.
To meet the demands, the Office has been granted several new positions in the Appraiser series of job classifications. These include: Principal Appraiser, Senior Appraiser, Appraiser I/II, and Assessor-Recorder Technician III. We are currently recruiting for each of these positions.
This is an exciting time to join a hard-working, highly-functioning, strongly-dedicated team of appraiser and assessor professionals committed to public service. In addition to assessing the new construction throughout the County, the Assessor’s Office is developing an Assessor’s Property Assessment System (APAS) to replace the legacy system. This three-to-five-year project requires subject matter expertise from our current staff which will allow newer staff to embrace our work methodologies and efficiencies.
We are looking for motivated, resourceful, analytical, technologically-savvy, adaptable, and communicative individuals to help us provide high quality, ethical, and timely service through the fair and equitable valuation of real and personal property.
Help us serve the people of San Mateo County and position ourselves as a leading department in the state.
