We are looking for an Experienced Valuation Professional/Appraiser – Oilfield Services. The Appraiser will work within the Oilfield Services (OFS) Industry Vertical of the machinery & equipment appraisal division of Great American Group. This division performs appraisals for asset-based lending, financial reporting, tax, insurance and various advisory purposes for its clients, and delivers valuation reports as the finished product. The assets being appraised are fixed assets (not real estate). GA’s clients use these appraisal reports to do things such as make lending decisions, to satisfy accounting and tax requirements or for various strategic purposes. The companies that are the subject of the appraisals are typically manufacturers or service providers within OFS and the broader Oil & Gas (O&G) industry. GA’s clients are primarily lenders, subject companies and private equity groups.
Manage time effectively to meet deadlines throughout the appraisal process.
Produce accurate and error-free appraisal reports by set deadlines.
Responsible for the inspection and evaluation of Machinery & Equipment in Oilfield Services. These include, but are not limited to; drilling rigs, workover rigs, coiled tubing units, pressure pumps, frac tanks, downhole tools, wireline logging tools and equipment, tubulars, compression, etc. Familiarity with these asset groups is a must.
Conduct site visits to gather and record asset information by means of written or dictated documentation and photographs.
Research to include contacting OEMs, used machinery dealers, auctioneers and/or distributors to obtain the additional detailed information regarding the subject assets including acquisition costs, replacement cost, age of equipment, and technical specification. The Appraiser uses this information to assign value to the assets.
Review their own work for accuracy and will be subject to peer project reviews.
Act as an “Industry Expert” in the OFS/O&G industry by keeping current with equipment trends in terms of supply and demand, valuation as a result thereof, associated trade material, trade events and professionals so as to provide responsible guidance to fellow appraisers for the valuation of equipment in the industry
Balances information gathered at the site and reconciles against any asset ledger or depreciation schedules provided by the company
Prerequisite Education and Skills
ASA Designation preferred
College graduate preferred
Minimum nine years performing machinery and equipment appraisals
Demonstrate a sufficient ability to identify and describe machinery and equipment
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills along with excellent interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented, ability to effectively manage time, and strong organizational skills
Proficient computer skills to include, Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook), as well as other office software products in a Windows environment
Internet use and website application
Ability to work under minimal supervision, function in high-pressure situations, bend and stoop, and adjust to environmental changes related to subject industry and place of business
