The GIS Division of the Office of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder and Chief Elections Officer (ACRE) was recently recognized with an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo), which for the past 51 years has been honoring innovative and effective government programs that strengthen services for residents. The award was granted for the Office’s GIS Assessor Parcel Web Portal project.
This project, which has moved ACRE to the cutting-edge of modern technology, redesigned the GIS Mapping unit workflows and migrated data to the Esri platform, thereby eliminating manual drafting and enabling the ability to perform all job functions in the Esri platform. ACRE GIS now utilizes ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Portal, and other Esri software to create, analyze, and share content. The ACRE GIS team has developed an internal GIS web application to improve appraisal service team productivity. The new capabilities created through the GIS Web Portal project has had an immediate impact on the County and their taxpayers with more applications. New applications to streamline field operations and to manage and track assessment assignments will continue to be “rolled out” as an ongoing part of this project and the County’s 5-Year GIS Strategic Plan.
Now is the time to join this innovative, hard-working team of GIS professionals as they continue to develop and advance the use of GIS technology to improve services to the county residents and businesses and “build healthy, safe, and vibrant communities.”
The mission of the Office of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder & Chief Elections Officer is to ensure equitable service and treatment of County property owners by accurate and fair valuation of land, improvements, and businesses; to register County citizens to vote and efficiently conduct transparent elections; to preserve and protect our historical and cultural records; and to create an accurate public record of recorded transactions relating to people and property within San Mateo County.
