Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has a great opportunity for an experienced real estate professional. The Real Estate Services office in Vancouver is seeking a Property & Acquisition Specialist to join their dynamic team. This position will complete all types of eminent domain property valuation assignments for WSDOT in compliance with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) rules and regulations. In this role, you will apply independent judgment and advanced technical knowledge. This position supports and contributes to the WSDOT mission and vision, strategic plan, goals, and priorities by appraisal of the wide variety of property rights needed to deliver WSDOT transportation projects. Our top candidate will possess exceptional communication skills as this position interacts with local public agency personnel, property owners, realtors, consultant appraisers, and other state agency personnel.
Qualifications To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
Bachelor’s degree involving major study in business or public administration, real estate, economics, accounting, or related field or equivalent work experience.
In addition to the above, the following are also required:
Two (2) years of appraisal experience and/or appraising all types of real property including vacant land, commercial and industrial real property.
WA State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license or the ability to obtain within 180 days of hire; demonstrated experience in Eminent Domain Appraisal.
Experience working independently applying sound analysis to make decisions concerning appraising all types of real property.
Experience understanding instructions, setting priorities, and meeting required deadlines.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
Experience successfully completing complex before and after compliant eminent domain appraisal reports and appraisal reports reviewed by a Review Appraiser.
Experience reading, understanding, and interpreting technical and highly specialized written material and convey that material to technical and non-technical staff and the general public.
Knowledge of highway access control, for both limited and managed access highways.
Knowledge of eminent domain appraisal requirements based on current USPAP, FHWA, State, and WSDOT rules and regulations.
Personal computer skills associated with the various office related software.
